“ Great dining experience here. We got seated at the bar as the staff was preparing our table and co-owner, Steph, was very hospitable. Food, ambiance, and service was all top notch. Our server, Josephine, was very helpful in helping us choose dishes and explained everything in detail. Our favorite dish, Nasu & Burrata, was very flavorful, and a nice layer of flavors; and eggplant dish that is so refined with amazing flavors you wouldn't ever expect. ”
“ Sadly, they had a stock issue with salmon, so almost all salmon dishes were unavailable. Food: My favourite was the Unagi alla Vodka, which was a pasta dish with eel. Surprisingly, the eel paired well with the pasta, and it was very good. Everything was delicious. Service: the staff were very friendly. They also explained any questions we had about the dishes on the menu. Atmosphere: the restaurant is very clean and well decorated. The dim lights and music really set the tone. I also like the cartoony design of the menu items. Definitely recommend this place! ”
“ We kicked things off by sharing the eggplant, which, and I mean this in the best way possible... it resembled an elevated “ants on a log.” Surprisingly fun and packed with flavor. We tried their signature salmon dish and the duck. Each dish was beautifully presented and had its unique flavor profile. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the balance of flavors stood out. A spot I’d recommend going with a group if you’re looking to try something a little different but still comforting. ”

“ A true hidden gem in Vancouver’s West Side! Okini Restaurant & Bar offers a refined twist on Japanese cuisine with creative, well-executed dishes. We loved the Salmon Soba — seared Big Glory Bay salmon on chilled matcha soba, perfectly balanced with sesame ponzu and ikura. The Wagyu Beef Carpaccio was packed with umami and texture, and the Hayashi Beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender after 16 hours of red wine braising. Their cocktails were also a highlight — especially the Peachy Keen and Tainted Love, both refreshing and beautifully balanced. For dessert, the Black Sesame Chocolate Brownie with kinako gelato was the perfect East-meets-West finish. Every dish was plated beautifully and full of thoughtful details. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a modern Japanese dining experience in Vancouver! ”
